Lyons
Two Irish brothers, James C. Lyons and Henry Lyons, named the town after themselves around 1880. The brothers ran a retail store on the Linn County side of the North Santiam River. Their store allowed local farms to obtain necessities without having to use a ferry to cross the river to Mehama. In 1880, one of the Lyons brothers donated a right of way to the Oregon Pacific Railroad system to help further the railroad builder’s (Col.Hogg) plan. The railroad system caused an increase in Lyons' population, and in 1928 the town acquired electricity. The City of Lyons was incorporated in 1958
